ending. i'm jeff bush, live in san francisco, kron four news. >> pam:in the south bay, two people are in the hospital, and dozens have been forced from their homes. following a 2-alarm fire which damaged an apartment building in sunnyvale. kron 4's charles clifford was there. he has this report. just before 1 friday afternoon, fire broke out in this two story apartment complex along sunnyvale-saratoga road in sunnyvale. dozens of people inside were suddenly confronted with fire alarms, smoke and screaming. jaclyn mendez was at home with her two year old. she heard some yelling to get out of the building, so she grabbed her daughter and headed for the door. sot i tried the door and it wouldn't open. once it opened it was all like pitch black. i coudlnt' breath. i had a cover over her and we are really close to the exit and run down the stairs and go to my car and i was out of the way. she was lucky, other residents were still trapped in the building. as fire crews arrived on scene they found smoke, flames and many people waving for help from their balconies. the interior hallways had filled with smoke and they couldn't get out. sot
